If you think a domain we hold, or one we sold in the past, is being used for something harmful – phishing, spam, malware, fraud or trade-mark infringement – please tell us.

How to report it

Email [email protected] with the subject Abuse Report and include:

  • • the domain name
  • • what kind of abuse it is
  • • the full web address (put it at the top of the email for phishing and malware)
  • • any evidence such as email headers or screenshots
  • • your contact details if you’re happy to be contacted

What happens next

We acknowledge every report within 24 hours and look into it within two business days. If the domain is still ours, we can act directly: take content down, change the nameservers or let the name expire. If we’ve already sold it, we no longer control it; we pass your report to the registrar now responsible, which deals with it under the rules of the relevant registry (EURid for .eu, the registrar’s ICANN abuse policy for .com, Nominet for .uk), and to the police where that’s appropriate.

Two things we’re not the right place for

Suspected child sexual abuse material should go to Hotline.ie, Ireland’s national reporting service, rather than to us. And we hold only our own customer records, not registrar WHOIS/RDAP data, so law-enforcement requests for a current registrant’s details should go to the registrar of record. Trade-mark complaints about a domain that has already transferred belong in the dispute procedures described on our Domain disputes and registry rules page.
